In this performance “Dear Yoko, What A Ripoff! Love John,” I invited audience members to come up and remove my body hair with wax strips given to them by Ritual Assistant, Chloe Bass. I designed the performance altar with a ritualistic aesthetic. Chloe gave each participant who ripped off my hair a scroll explaining Yoko Ono’s 1964 seminal performance “Cut Piece.” I also needed to remove my hair for the Wildflower triathlon the following week for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society TEAM- another of my performances that links kinetic durational art with humanitarian interests.
