POLYMORPH 2: LAVA MAN

Part 2 in the Polymorph series wherein the artist's body undergoes a metaphoric metamorphosis into the sculptural material the endurance performance is named after. The endurance sports world uses nomenclature similar to materials a sculptor might use in his art. Bonafede employs concepts of kinetic endurance performance to embody these textures in each Polymorph video by bringing these races into an art context. Lava Man is an Olympic distance triathlon on the Big Island in Hawaii. Each installment of the Polymorph performance series embodies a different texture, echoing that of which it is named after. Each installment of the Polymorph series raises money for cancer R & D and care through Leukemia Lymphoma Society's Team In Training.
